Physical Therapy Services
Custom treatment options for any cerebral palsy diagnosis.
Key to CP is managed and staffed by licensed and experienced therapists. Our role is to act as your guide in learning about you or your child’s skills and needs and help you achieve functional goals through changes to your daily routines and activities. Each program we create is custom-tailored to fit every client’s age, diagnosis, and goals. Our various options can help support the growth and recovery of you or your child.
Building new movement patterns and strength with physical therapy
Physical therapy addresses functional skills in children and adults with cerebral palsy using a highly systematic approach developed by Pia Stampe and Karen Pape, MD.
As part of a comprehensive evaluation, we determine how the best possible alignment can be accomplished for both the core of the body and arms/legs. Next, we begin working on movement control using a variety of intervention methods.
Key to CP’s extended physical therapy program may use EMG Biofeedback, Neuromuscular Stimulation, EMG Triggered Stimulation, treadmill training, specific awareness training, and other interventions when appropriate to help our clients reach their goals. Multidisciplinary collaboration with occupational, speech or feeding therapy may also be used to identify the most beneficial approaches to improving you or your child’s overall skills.
A comprehensive long term plan will be developed with the client and family during the intensive and we will consult with the home team about this plan.
Our Multidisciplinary Approach
All intensive programs are created with the unique needs of the client in mind. While most programs begin with a foundation of physical therapy services, any combination of physical, occupational, feeding, and speech therapy can be discussed during the intake process to best meet your needs.
