Occupational Therapy Services

Support for fine motor and sensory processing needs.

Occupational therapy services are a great addition to you or your child’s Key to CP experience based on your unique needs.

Fostering independence with occupational therapy

Occupational therapy addresses functional fine motor skills in children and adults with cerebral palsy using a highly systematic approach developed by Pia Stampe and Karen Pape, MD.

We work with children and adults with fine motor difficulties to address range of motion, strength, self-feeding, handwriting, grasping, visual motor skills, posture, dressing, sensory processing difficulties, and much more. The goal of occupational therapy is to improve functional skills.

Key to CP’s extended occupational therapy program may involve splinting and constraint-induced-movement-therapy (CIMT) when appropriate.

Multidisciplinary collaboration with physical therapy and speech/feeding therapy may also be used to identify the most beneficial approaches to improving you or your child’s overall skills.

A comprehensive long term plan will be developed with the client and family during the intensive and we will consult with the home team about this plan.
